New York Fashion Week is the most important time of the year. The future is right in front of us; dressed to impress. Noticing similar aspects of shows and recognizing them as trends is an important skill to have. I have compiled the trends and patterns that stuck out to me the most this week! Here’s a quick recap:
VELVET:
This trend moved quickly from the runway to the fast fashion stores like H&M and Zara after it was the hottest fabric of FW16. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was still a trend to watch.
MONOCHROME:
Head-to-toe in one single color is a hard look to achieve. An easy way to impress everyone is to get matchy-matchy.
PLAID:
The ’90s grunge school girl is back! I can hear Blair Waldorf cheering from my Netflix account about this one.
TURTLENECK AND DRESS:
An easy way to transition a summer or fall dress into the winter time. Don’t be afraid of wearing the same dress twice!! Layering it creates a whole new look.
FISHNETS:
From the Instagram models to the runway models this trend really took off in the past few months. Wearing fishnets works on the bottom and on the top!
HOODIES:
Channeling your inner skater girl just got a lot easier. I love how comfortable and easy this is.
PINK:
This trend takes me back to when I was just a kid. Some of the grungiest brands are brightening up to include more pink.
HIGH-SLIT:
Showing one leg immediately makes anyone look taller. This is a very sexy trend I hope to see more of.
This is just a brief outline of what’s to come for Style in the Way. I intend to be writing about all of these trends so look out for that!
