I have to self-identify as a bag obsessed fashionista. Your closet is really never too full of bag options. My dream is to one day have a bag in every color of the rainbow. I’m still working on getting my hands on all of the staple bags on this list.
While bags are quite the investment, they really are worth it knowing that you can carry them with you for years. I am always stalking my favorite designers collections to gather inspiration for my dream closet.
I have a lot of saving up to do if I am ever going to get my hands on the best designer bags but it will surely be worth it once I get a few of them in my closet.

Lady Dior Bag $1,425* / Here
*retails for $4,000 but I have linked an affordable alternative
This is an iconic bag that has remained in style for decades. It’s so good that Princess Diana ordered it in every size and color available—making it her signature bag. And now, it can be yours too. I always find this one at great rates and think the medium size has to be my favorite. If you’re looking into this option, I would go for a pop of color. You know Christian Dior will always be on trend so take a risk!

I have been crushing on this bag for a few weeks now. Everyone needs a good tote bag and a recent problem I developed is that it is difficult to fit all of my work things in just one bag! That’s why I’ve been eyeing this timeless option from Céline. It’s the perfect bag for a working woman or student and makes an amazing gift! This one is at the top of my list.

Chanel Boy Bag, $3,000 / Here
When thinking about the best designer bags, my mind goes straight to this Chanel boy bag. These bags give off an air of exclusivity and classic beauty. This is my second favorite Chanel bag, (you’ll see my first closer to #1) and it’s relatively new to the Chanel family invented in the later years of Karl Lagerfeld’s reign. It became adopted into modern culture quickly and is now one of the most recognizable bags in fashion.

Loewe Small Puzzle Bag $2,500 / Here
This is one of those bags that is mainly recognizable by the fashion elites and socialites of the world. If you are looking for a subtle touch of luxe, this one’s for you! I love this colorblocked one but I haven’t been able to find it online yet. This shape and style will fit seamlessly into your everyday wardrobe.

Bottega Veneta Nero Intrecciato Nappa Medium Bag, $2,070 / Here
The hobo bag is currently having a comeback and Bottega is the ring leader of it all. Led by new creative director, Daniel Lee, the brand has made a comeback and brought some of it’s classic styles along with it. I have been wearing this bag for about a month, I found a vintage one on FashionPhile for only $500! It is a great size for all of my things and makes every outfit look luxe. Definitely proud of this purchase!

Goyard Saint Louis Hunter Green Chevron Bag, $1,500 / Here
While it’s a preppy girl favorite, these bags can be seen on every type of woman in New York City. I can’t go a day without seeing one. And for good reason, this roomy tote is perfect for work, overnight trips, and beach days. The infamous Goyard print has withstood the test of time, meaning this investment will be well worth it for you.

Hérmes Birkin, $8000 / Here
How could I write a list of the best designer bags without mentioning the queen of them all; the Birkin. Named after the iconic actress, Jane Birkin, this bag is every girl’s dreams. Loved by celebrities and socialites—once you’ve gotten this bag, you’ll know you’ve made it.

Chanel Caviar Quilted Double Flap Bag $4,200 / Here
Of all the bags in this list, this is the one that I want the most! Well, besides #1 but I am just being as realistic as possible here. This is a classic everyday bag that will never go out of style. Iconic and amazing in every single color, I have been crushing on this bag for so long. I definitely recommend purchasing this consignment over retail as the markup is insane and goes up every single year. The original design of this bag had actual gold hardware and the newer versions do not. In this case, vintage is better! I’ll be on the lookout for the classic flap and you should be too.

Hérmes Kelly, $5,000-$25,000 / Here
A never ending debate: The Birkin or The Kelly? Hermes’s two hero bags are both beautiful but I chose the Kelly. Something about the structure and shape here draws me in more than the Birkin. While the Birkin may be more famous, the Kelly is more functional. Everyone’s biggest complaint about their Birkin bag is how difficult it can be to carry such a big bag around without a strap. The Kelly leaves you hands free and ready to take on the world.
The pricing on this blog post is a lot for me to take in. Luckily we have resale options! Sites like The Real Real, Fashionphile, and Depop are your go-to’s if you are looking to invest in this piece but want to get a good price.
Picking between all of these options won’t be easy the next time I am looking to splurge on a bag. Which do you think I should buy next?
