Last weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to attend Chicago Fashion Week hosted by Fashion Bar Chicago. I loved this event because it was so inspiring to see the community working really hard to grow the fashion industry in Chicago. Tony Long, the CEO and Founder of the company, spoke about the importance of creating more career opportunities while growing the experience for people interested in fashion. The event was hosted at the Audi dealership which was such a sick venue. I think everyone in the US believes that to work in fashion your only option is to move to New York so it was really great to learn that it is possible to thrive in the industry in a completely different niche.
What made this stand out to me in comparison to New York Fashion Week was the fact that the experience was very personal and the designers were all showing in one place. I liked this because it made it easier to learn about what the meaning of their shows was. It was also amazing to travel to the show with a great group of people through the Fashion Club of Notre Dame. At New York Fashion Week, as a blogger, you are on your own for a lot of it so it was nice to have people to talk about the shows with.
