Yesterday was one of the craziest days of my life. I closed a chapter of my life by walking across the stage and receiving my diploma from the University of Notre Dame.
Why am I talking about this on my blog?
The fact that I am a college student at Notre Dame shaped the brand that I built around this website. When I first started blogging, I didn’t know who my audience would be and what I would be writing about. This website started as a collection of lookbooks sharing outfit inspiration from my own personal styling and creative direction. This was a really great form of self-expression but I needed something more useful for the reader. As I developed into a website with more substantial information, my brand became centered around my attendance at my now alma mater. My current bio sums it up, check it out:
“It’s me, Sierra! Welcome to the shopping + fashion + everything in my life destination. I am a senior at the University of Notre Dame and have been blogging since 2016. I started my blog because I am currently stuck in South Bend, a desert when it comes to style, and needed to find my oasis! Over the years, my site has evolved in many different ways. It truly is an extension of myself; constantly shape-shifting and never boring. Follow along with me as I shop, style, and explore my way through this crazy thing called life.”
As mentioned in my bio, this blog formed as an “oasis” for me as a student interested in the fashion industry at a school that had no resources for this interest when I enrolled. Since then, I have been able to build a fashion club with my friend’s which created a space for those interested in this career path and also make this website a place for me to develop some of the fashion industry skills that helped me land a job.
This is part of the reason that I have decided to address this on my blog. Now that this chapter of my life is over, I need a new bio and personal brand. I am definitely not ready to change it at this exact moment. So bare with me, we are just getting started on this process.
I plan on spending this summer thinking, reflecting, and preparing for my website’s rebranding. This will include a lot of self-reflection of where I see this going. There will never be enough time to dedicate as much as I can to this platform but now that I have more, I hope to make this website continue to grow over the next few months. Stay tuned and thank you so much for following along with my journey.
These past four years have not been easy for me. I see so many posts from people saying these were the best years of their life and that is what you are told when you start college. For me, that is definitely not the case. This is just the beginning. These were the four hardest years of my life so far and I know there is plenty more difficulties that face me in the future. And honestly, I would be pretty sad if these were the best for years of my life and I’m not even at the quarter mark lol.
I would describe these also as the most formative years where I found who I truly was, what I valued, and where I wanted to go next. That is a beautiful thing because my peak is still to come.
Thank you so much to my parents for giving me the knowledge and support it took to get to where I am today.
And here are some of my amazing friends who made these four years so worth it.
