My Miami Vices: A Travel Diary

I was getting a bit tired of the cold and this last minute trip was a surprise blessing that came right on time.

Being so busy with work, I spent what felt like forever without a trip to the sunshine. I was really excited when the 49ers won the NFC Championship, my Dad works for the team so this game hit close to home. I was finally going to head down to Miami! We were so blessed with the most beautiful possible location for this year’s Super Bowl and I really enjoyed exploring the city.

Besides seeing my family and attending the game, the true highlight of my weekend was getting to try out some resort looks I had been saving for a trip. I’m sharing below a few of my favorite looks along with the places they took me.

Hotel Setai

This was one of my first stops of the weekend and definitely a favorite. As I was walking on the beach with my friend, Rachel, we were looking for a place to stop for a drink but were disgusted by the fact that every option would require us to drink from cheap plastic cups. Really not on brand for us. When we saw the beach chairs at Hotel Setai we knew we were at home. The beautiful hotel is right on the beach and truly reminiscent of Montauk’s Gurney’s which is how it caught my attention. The smell of truffle was in the air so we immediately ordered everything that included our favorite ingredient on the menu. They also had a cult-favorite rose, Whispering Angel. They poured us a glass and we vowed to return. Definitely the highlight of my trip.

My favorite styling tip for this spring is throwing a cardigan over anything and everything. You can always use a breathable and comfortable layer no matter the season. A cropped cardigan will be the most memorable one. Mine is a vintage find.

Wynwood

I’ve heard so much about the Wynwood Walls and it was such a treat to see the neighborhood in person for the first time. I chose to match the background with an equally colorful shirt. This area had such great energy so it was so much fun to visit. There was such a great array of different types of art on the walls and the energy was vibrant. There was so much to do in the neighborhood including great boutiques and a food truck market.

As you can see, I’ll be sampling a wide array of colors in my palette this spring. Starting with this look featuring: A Little Bit of Everything.

Zuma

This was my best meal on the trip! Think Nobu but with bottomless brunch. Endless champagne, sushi, noodles and any other Japanese fair you can think of. The vegetarian options were outstanding! The highlight for me was the veggie sashimi and exotic fruits. With a beautiful view of the water and open air seating this stop is a necessity.

For a swim look, lounging is incomplete without some accessories to make the look. This time I paired my easy to wear one-piece (only $28 and such good quality!) with a sarong and beach hat. This whole look is under $50!

So glad I got to visit Miami, I will definitely be back soon. If you end up checking out any of these places, you have to let me know what you think!
