I got the chance to pop back into Birmingham, MI this weekend and couldn’t have had a better time. Birmingham is where I went to middle school and high school and will always have a place in my heart. The reason for my return was that my friends and I run a charity event called Dodge for a Cause, our fourth annual event was this week and it was a huge success. Although my visit was short, it was a great way to catch up with my family and friends. I am moving to the Greater New York City Area in just a few months and will definitely miss the house that built me. There is a song by Miranda Lambert that talks about leaving the home she grew up in and the lyrics really resonate with me. My favorite lyric is “Up those stairs, in that back bedroom, is where I did my homework and I learned to play guitar” because it reminds me of doing those things in my very own bedroom. My favorite part of going home was getting to spend time with my dog.
I am sad to be leaving, but it has been my dream to live near New York City and I hope to be involved in fashion journalism there after college. Coming up on my blog, I will have posts including moving tips and house hunting tips so stay tuned for that. Shout out to my awesome Mom for letting me borrow her coat and purse for this blog post and to my dog, Rocky, for being in the picture even though she resisted. I just launched the use of twitter to share my posts! You can follow me @styelintheway for frequent updates on trends and fashion.
