A quick Google search of “Stranger Things fashion” reveals that everybody is trying to get the look. The show takes place in 1983 and the characters definitely dress the part. With the next season coming out this Halloween on Netflix, people are getting excited
Less than a month ago Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2018 show occurred and one of the looks immediately stood out to me. A “Stranger Things” graphic tee layered over your grandmother blouse with sneakers was unique for this brand. Louis Vuitton has become more casual than ever and the designer, Nicolas Ghesquière, created a plot twist. While in fashion, we now expect a classic throwback band tee we got a modern-day Netflix series tee instead.
Topshop launched it’s “Stranger Things” collection this week and my thoughts immediately jumped back to what I recalled as the strangest aspect of the Louis Vuitton show. The connection between this is definitely perplexing. I wonder how much advertising plays into this fashion trend. Fast fashion is certainly getting faster and Topshop’s debut to the TV show came so fast. In their home page’s banner they write “The hit tv-show is having a fashion moment. Get ahead of the trend.” With Louis Vuitton’s arrival date of their Stranger Things collab still nowhere in sight, Topshop is able to gain profit from Vuitton’s artistic decisions.
Unfortunately, it’s looking like these products will only be deliverable to residents of the UK and shoppable at the Oxford Circus Topshop store in London.
