Ok so I truly do not want to offend anyone with my aggression towards Justin Bieber, but this question has been on my mind lately. His music does display talent but lacks creativity. I have seen his music duplicated over and over again on Youtube effortlessly, while artists like Lana Del Rey have an aura that just can’t be replicated. He wore a Nirvana shirt once, which gives him more credibility in my eyes, but it’s not enough. So why is Dolce & Gabbana declaring their supposed “love” for him on their runway?
As Austin Mahone sings in the background, two models at the Dolce show are wearing Bieber merchandise designed by D&G. This is the only major fashion show I did not watch all the way through. Why? I was simply unimpressed. When a show has over 100 looks I feel the designer is losing focus on a general theme because there is just too much.I have more respect for a show with 40 amazing looks than one that is overproducing content. When you add the number of looks in the show with a number of internet celebrities that served as models it’s enough to make a fashion snob like me sick. This comes as ironic because I just wrote a story praising Dolce & Gabbana, but they lost my attention very quickly.
The celebration of Bieber in fashion is not even an original aspect of the D&G brand. When Barney’s picked up his band merchandise line over the summer popularity and attention grew around him quickly. Chiara Ferragni wore it multiple times on her blog and she was not the only blogger to show her support for the Biebs, but that is a ship I did not board.
I must quickly apology to any beliebers out there and to my future self because I feel like these words will come back to haunt me. I’m a very opinionated person and I just needed to get this off my chest. Justin Bieber, it’s too late now to say sorry. Disagree with me? Let me know in the comments!
